Missionaries to India

Spring 2010Jun 11, 2010
I arrived in Los Angeles on March 4th after two long flights from India. Due to the great challenge in handling two hyperactive boys ages 2 and 3, Areni requested that she, Jay and Josiah not travel with me at this time. Last year’s intercontinental flight with our seat-belt defying boys made an indelible impression on our memory banks that we would not like to remember again!

I am full of gratitude to my faithful Father-God. He opened doors of opportunity and the gift that He placed in me made room in places and churches beyond my natural thinking – supernatural doors and inspired utterances along with supernatural provision from the Lord, who truly is my Shepherd.

For the first time since I entered the full-time ministry in 1994, my Dad Fred Castro, traveled with me on a nine-week ministry itinerary. We drove from Carson, California near the Pacific Coast to Hampton, Virginia on the Atlantic Coast and from the Gulf Coast at sea level to Vail, Colorado at nearly 11,000 feet. We passed through 28 states and 2 provinces of Canada traveling 12,482 miles and preaching in 20 churches.

Please agree with us in faith for an urgent need. Our `Old Faithful` jeep has become too old to be faithful much longer. (It has survived over 100,000 miles and 10 years on rugged Indian roads). With hands of faith, we laid hold on a 2010, 2.5 liter Toyota VX Innova costing 1,327,068 rupees equivalent to $29,166 at the rate of 45.50 rupees to the dollar of which $8,300 has already been received with more on its way!

I covet your prayers as I return to my family on a l-o-n-g flight back to India on June 3rd.

Winter 2009 NewsDec 6, 2009
Greetings from India!

Our hearts are deeply touched that you are co-laborers with Living Word International with your offerings. It is indeed a blessing to know that we can carry on His work in India with your prayers and offerings.

Presently, Areni and I are teaching at RHEMA India. Last term, I taught the Subject `Bible Doctrines` and during the third term, both Areni and I are teaching a mostly untaught subject in India, `The Minister’s Family` and on `Marriage and Family Relationships.` The 155 students are from 20 states of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Burma. These students are hungry for His Word and are anxious to spread the Gospel once they return to their cities and villages. We are so privileged to teach and prepare these students so they can also minister to others when they return home.

We are thanking the Lord to be able to share his Word through the printed page in various languages and tribal languages, but as you know, this cannot be done without support. Therefore, from the bottom of our hearts, we greatly appreciate your generosity.

The third revised edition of the Believer’s Authority is currently under printing at a local press (5,000 copies) which will soon be followed by Why Tongues 2nd revised edition (10,000 copies) and then Plans, Purposes and Pursuits (1,000 copies) 2nd revised edition - all in Hindi, India’s national language. Also, the 2nd printing (30,000 copies) of the New Birth has just been completed in Urdu in Lahore, Pakistan. Presently, The New Birth in Indian Tharu (a tribal language) is currently being printed in North India (near the India-Nepal border, 20,000 copies). This will be the 24th language of The New Birth that the Lord has enabled our ministry to print.

We are Sincerely grateful for all that you are helping us to do through your prayers and financial support.

Returning to India after itinerating in the U.S.Jun 22, 2009

Dear Partners,

We want you to know how grateful we are for your continued prayers and the finances you have given. Thank you for your generosity. Your giving has ministered to us and will help us towards our goal of returning to India debt free!

Early morning June 23rd, just after midnight, I along with Areni and our Samson-like rope breaking, seat belt defying boys Jay and Josiah, (ages 2 and 1) leave Los Angeles on a marathon 14-1/2 hour journey to Hong Kong. This will be followed by a seven hour layover at Hong Kong International and boarding a second flight for an additional six hours bound for India. As the Apostle Paul declared in Acts, “…Now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem…”, we also say that we go bound in the spirit to India, the place of God’s calling and abundant grace. The third and final flight from Bombay to our home city of Nagpur is a comforting mere one hour and fifteen minutes. Praise the Lord!

Upon our return to India, we will be helping with preparations for the upcoming RHEMA India Bible School which begins August 17th as well as work on revisions of the Hindi translations of Plans, Purposes & Pursuits and Biblical Keys to Financial Prosperity, both authored by Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin. These truths will be made available to the over 400 million Hindi-speaking people, which are more in number than English speakers. What an open door of opportunity to impact this massive language group with the message of living faith in the living God above all gods through the printed page!

It is a supreme honor to be His ambassadors and minister His Word by His grace that works in us mightily! We know that we have come into His Kingdom for such a time as this – the last hour; the last seven days just prior to Noah’s flood; the former and later rain coming together in a deluge of God’s glory which will usher in the Majesty of our glorious King Jesus. Hallelujah!

Please agree with us in faith for God’s protection, direction, and abundant provision as we return to the right place at the right time with His never-ending grace “to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”

In His great and unending love,

Kevin & Areni
Jay & Josiah

Partner update letterMay 26, 2009

Dear Partners,

Areni and I are so thankful for your continued prayers and financial support of Living Word International. God’s word says in Proverbs 11, “There is one who scatters, yet increase more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.” (NKJV)

Your prayers, giving and encouragement are enabling us to continue to pursue His divine plan to assist RHEMA India directors Rev. and Mrs. Thorat to train laborers in the Word of God, get them filled with His precious Holy Spirit, continue to translate and publish faith-building literature in local languages, and minister to the blind people in South India.

February 22 until April 7, I was assisting Rev. and Mrs. Thorat, driving them over 5,600 miles on their itinerary to eleven churches in eight different states. I am presently on our own ministry itinerary, traveling from the Carolinas to California.

Although we were able to pay cash for a portion of our entire family’s roundtrip airfare to and from India, we charged $2,935 to pay the remaining balance. Please believe with us to pay off this amount before we leave the States on June 22nd to return to India and help with preparations for the 2009 school session of RHEMA India.

We are confident that He who has begun a good work in us will complete it until the day of Jesus’ return. We count it a privilege that He entrusted us with an awesome responsibility to help get people in India ready for Jesus’ soon return.

Praise the Lord for the completion of a 541ft. wall that now protects our ministry property.

In His great love,

Kevin and Areni Jay and Josiah

Partners LetterFeb 2, 2009
Dear friends and partners,

Areni and I want to express our deep gratitude and heart-felt thanks for your valuable prayers and support of this (His) ministry. The scriptures come to mind, “Your labor is not in vain in the Lord,” and “We are laborers together with Him.” We have labored in His harvest fields in India and now are beginning to see a quick harvest from the seed we have been sowing.

One of the recent RHEMA India Bible school graduates from Nigeria sent us a testimony saying, “I just won two Muslims to the Lord Jesus.” What a great joy to hear that the seed which Areni and I have been sowing through teaching the Word at RHEMA India is being multiplied – not only in India, but also in Africa. Praise the Lord!

Faith-building literature full of revelation truth is continuing to be published by our ministry. The 3rd revised edition of The Believer’s Authority in Hindi is nearly ready for the third printing of 5,000 copies. We will soon be making a 2nd printing of The New Birth in Urdu in Pakistan. We already received about $1,500 designated toward this printing and praise God with us that the approximately $1,500 additional funds needed is coming in soon.

The need has arisen for us to begin construction of a 540 foot retaining wall to protect our ministry property. The past week from morning well into the night, a large backhoe dug deep into the black Indian soil for the foundation pillars and footings. We took a line of credit to buy the remaining need for sand, cement, necessary materials and labor costs. Please agree with us for approximately $7,150 to cover these costs. Our All-sufficient God is so faithful!

We so much appreciate your earnest prayers and support. Although there is fear and turmoil in the world, we who are of the Kingdom of Light can know that the future is bright and for us in this New Year 2009, the best is yet to come!

‘JAY’ means ‘VICTORY’
During the birth of our first son on March 15, 2007, we experienced the greatest test of our ministry. It was a divisive attack by Satan who not only used unbelievers, but also used Christians to threaten us and try to hinder the plan of God from coming to pass in our lives.

We named our first son ‘Jay’ which means victory in Hindi. The Apostle Paul made his declaration of faith, “none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

When Paul faced continual buffeting by a messenger of Satan and three times pleaded with God for his removal, the Lord replied, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Yes, we are experiencing His grace to stay in the place where God called us – Nagpur, Central India. And to the dismay of the devil and carnally-minded men, we will remain here until Jesus comes or until He directs us to a different place in His divine plan.

A new arrival
On April 4, 2008, Josiah Michael Castro was born in Nagpur, India at 6:32 PM weighing 3.6 kilograms (nearly 8 lbs.) and 20-1/2 inches in length.
April Nagaland Ministry
Rev. John Roughton, who pastors Spirit of Faith Church in Dimapur, Nagaland, invited me to minister at his short-term Bible School. I taught the subjects: Ministry Gifts, Qualifications for Ministry, Ethics in Ministry and The Minister’s Family. What a privilege to have a small part in training up laborers to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus in their respective places in Burma, Bhutan, Nepal, and states of Northeast India!

More Faith-Building Literature
Thus far, the Lord has helped us to translate and publish over 2.3 million books in 23 languages and in Braille for the blind. Although Kenneth Hagin Ministries has given permission to translate and publish, our ministry is responsible to raise the finds for printing. In April, we published our first title in Assamese, which is the 23rd language in which we have published The New Birth. We are grateful to Alan Neufeld for his generous gift for this printing.

The 24th language in which we have translated The New Birth is Meithe, spoken in the state of Manipur in which many Hindus are coming to Christ. Bible-based literature in Meithe will be a tool to ‘school’ new believers in faith. Believe with us for the funds for printing at least 20,000 copies of The New Birth in Meithe.

Rise Up and Build
We are making preparations in faith for constructing a 165 linear meter (541 feet) wall to protect our presently owned ministry property. It will be a solid construction with foundation up to a depth of 1.5 meters. The contractor bids are between $20,000-$21,000 for materials and labor. We have already purchased 3,000 kilograms of rebar; 10 trucks of gravel; and ordered 30,000 bricks for which we paid a total of Rs. 263,801 or about $6,595.

We still need to purchase 21 trucks of sand and 700 bags of cement which at the present market rate comes to Rs. 315,000 or about $7,875 plus labor estimated at roughly $5,000 to $6,000. After completion of the wall, we will use our faith for the construction of an 18,000 sq. ft. ministry complex which will house our ministry offices, printing press, storehouse, shipping and receiving dock, guest rooms, and residence for the recently e-x-p-a-n-d-e-d Castro family.

The entire complex with furnishings is estimated at $500,000-$600,000. We have a big vision and serve an even bigger God who will bring the vision to fulfillment.

Acclimation to the Faith-Life
The Sherpa people of Nepal are acclimated to high altitudes and consequently a number of them have scaled Mt. Everest. Some who are not acclimated to high goals and big visions from God may think that we are attempting many things with a big price tag. The vision and mandate given to us is like Mt. Everest – very big and exceptionally high. However, when believers are acclimated to living the faith-life, seeing big visions fulfilled is do-able and we can scale its heights.
I believe it pleases God to follow William Carey’s spirit of faith: “Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.” God used Dr. Carey mightily in India with translation portions of the Bible or New Testament in more than forty languages. He will use us mightily also because God is a respecter of faith and not a respecter of persons.
Expecting great things and in His great love,
Kevin, Areni, Jay & Josiah Michael Castro
